Cleaning Aircons

Split System - Dirty fan (Mould and Dirt)
Living in Townsville allows us to enjoy a relaxed and tropical lifestyle. Our airconditioners make life more comfortable
in summer months. The humidity and heat puts a workload on the split systems and box type airconditioners.
They work harder to cool the rooms to your preferred temperature setting. If the air filters, cooling coil and fan are
dirty or clogged with dust and mould, the unit is not working efficiently. This will use more electricity and power costs
due to longer run times. In addition, this can reduce the system term of life. Some manufacturers require the air conditioners are cleaned regularly
to maintain manufacturer’s warranty. Otherwise, repairs or service labour could be charged to you, the customer.
Cleaning the filters yourself is good practice. However, the other parts behind the covers need attention also.
TCSNQ can clean these areas for you. Drain flow can be checked to prevent water leaking back inside your room.
Mouldy air louvres and fan cowls cause the unit to have a “musky” smell. The local geko like to make a home in your split systemtoo.
Sometimes the geko can short circuit your main control board in the indoor or outdoor unit. Damage to these control cards can be expensive
and repair costs could be up to $800 in some cases. At times the geko gets “fried” behind the control card on the electrical solder joints.
The board is not blown (luckily), but a strong odour is evident in the room for a period of time.
Cleaning your airconditioners on a regular basis is being aircon smart. I suggest airconditioners in the main bedroom and lounge
be cleaned yearly. The other bedrooms 1 – 2 years depending on use plus the environment. If all the units have never been cleaned for 3 years or more,
it would be Aircon Smart to have them done now. That way they are back to a clean state and can be managed from now on.
Cleaning the air conditioners improve operation and efficiency and reduces running costs. A Clean split system provides a healthy home and maintains your asset in the home.
If you are thinking of moving home, cleaning the airconditioners beforehand can be a good selling point. It also looks clean, smells and works better for house inspections.
Some clogged fans with heavy dirt build up can cause the fan to have a “rattle” noise. These are some reasons to have your air conditioner cleaned and be Aircon Smart at the same time.
